☁️ Backup & Restore
Protect your data and move it to a new phone.
Casviz stores data only on your phone. If you lose or reset the phone without a backup, your data cannot be recovered. Turn on Auto Backup.
Manual backup
Open Settings → Backup & Data → Backup & Restore. Backups are .casviz files that can be restored on any device running Casviz.
- Save to Device – exports a backup to your Downloads folder.
- Share Backup – send the file by email, cloud apps, etc.

Auto Backup
Settings → Backup & Data → Auto Backup:
- Backup destinations – Local Storage (Downloads) and/or Google Drive (a “Casviz Backups” folder; tap Sign in with Google first).
- Schedule – Frequency (Daily, Weekly or Monthly) and Backup Time.
- Retention – how many backups to keep (5 by default). Older ones are removed.

Backup encryption
Settings → Backup & Data → Backup Encryption protects backups with a passphrase. Once active, all new backups are encrypted and you need the passphrase to restore them.
If you forget the passphrase, encrypted backups cannot be opened. Store it somewhere safe.
Restore
- Open Backup & Restore and tap Restore from File.
- Choose the
.casvizfile (enter the passphrase if it is encrypted). - Casviz offers Backup First, Then Restore (recommended) or Restore Without Backup.
- Wait for “Restoring backup…” to finish. The app then shows your restored data.
Restoring replaces all current data. If a passcode is set, you are asked for it first.
Move to a new phone
- On the old phone: Share Backup or use Google Drive backup.
- Install Casviz on the new phone and finish the welcome setup.
- Restore the backup file (or sign in to Google and restore from Drive).
Free accounts can hold up to 10 accounts; restoring a backup with more accounts than allowed may be limited unless you have Premium or a referral unlock.
