๐ค Smart Import (SMS & Notifications)
Let Casviz create transactions automatically from bank SMS and notifications.
Smart Import is available with Premium, or unlocked for free using a referral credit.
How it works
Casviz reads banking SMS and bank/UPI app notifications, detects debit and credit messages and creates transactions for you. All processing happens on your device. A small on-device model recognises promotional messages, OTPs and other non-transaction messages and ignores them.
Turn it on
- Open Settings โ Smart Import.
- Switch on Enable SMS Auto-Import and tap Grant to allow the SMS permission.
- Optionally switch on Enable Notification Auto-Import and grant Notification Listener Access. Android lets you choose which apps Casviz may read under Settings โ Apps โ Special app access โ Notification access โ Casviz.

Review imported transactions
Imported transactions are marked Needs Review. Open one to see the original message details (sender, parsed amount, last digits of the account) and then:
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Mark as Reviewed | Confirms the transaction is correct. |
| Edit | Fix the account, category, amount or date. |
| Recheck & Update | Re-reads the original message with your current rules and senders. |
| Mark as Promotional | Tells Casviz this was not a real transaction. |
| Create Rule from this | Starts a rule for the sender (see below). |
| Reject | Permanently deletes the auto-created transaction and its message log. |

Warnings you may see: Multiple accounts match these digits (pick the right account) and This may be a duplicate (check before keeping both). Use the filters in Search & Filter (Import Source, Review Status, No Account Mapped) to find items still to review.
Review a few every day. Turn on Reminders โ the reminder tells you how many imported transactions are waiting.
Matching accounts
Casviz matches a message to an account using the last digits in the message. Give your bank and card accounts the correct digits so imports land in the right place.
Allowed Senders
Settings โ Smart Import โ Allowed Senders lists the SMS sender IDs that are processed. Built-in senders can be turned off but not deleted. Tap + to add a custom sender ID (for example HDFCBK), with an optional display name.
Import Rules
Rules let you automatically categorise or ignore imported messages. Rules run top to bottom and the first matching rule wins; use the arrows to reorder.
- Conditions (all must match): sender contains, direction, minimum/maximum amount, matched account, body keywords (any one).
- Actions: ignore the message (SKIP), override direction, force account, override category, override note.
- Test Message: paste a raw SMS to see exactly how it would be imported before you save the rule.
If a rule points to an account or category that was later removed or closed, the rule is ignored and the message is imported with normal matching. The rule shows a red Account or category missing line in the list and in a Data issues notification โ edit it to choose an existing one, or delete it. An account or category that a rule still uses cannot be deleted forever.
Messages for a closed or deleted account are never matched to it; they are imported unmatched so you can review them.

Import Log
Shows the full history of processed and skipped messages. From a log entry you can Create Rule for This Sender.
Promotional message detector
The Confidence threshold controls how sure the on-device model must be before treating a message as promotional. Higher = fewer wrongly-skipped real transactions, but a few promotions may slip through.
Privacy & data retention
- Processing is on-device. Read the FAQ and the in-app Privacy Policy (Settings โ Smart Import โ Privacy Policy).
- Keep Message Logs on: logs are kept and included in backups. Off: logs of reviewed transactions are auto-deleted after the retention period; unreviewed ones are never auto-deleted.
- Delete All Message Logs Now removes all logs immediately. OTP messages are stored with digits masked.
- Disable All Smart Import stops all automatic creation from SMS and notifications.
